My first post of the New Year is in honor of….

…my alma mater, which completely dismantled the undefeated O(verrated)SU Buckeyes! 41-14 sure silenced the Gators’ critics who claimed that Florida did not deserve to play the Buckeyes. I even heard some Cincinnati AM radio commentators talking about how the National Championship game had already been played (I assume that they were talking about the OSU/UM game a couple of months ago) and that this game was merely a formality.
I can’t tell you how much fun it was for me, as a Gator living deep in enemy territory, to cheer on my football team and watch as the restaurant in which our local alumni club views games practically emptied itself of all scarlet and grey by the end of the third quarter.
I read in an online article, “Buckeyes quarterback Troy Smith completed just 4 of 14 passes for 35 yards, which is about as far as he can throw his Heisman Trophy.” OUCH – that’s pretty mean, even for my taste.
Hats off to the Gators – what a fantastic game for the ‘underdog’ though I cannot agree with that pregame assessment for one second. The University of Florida i
