Back From Gator 'Rastlin…

Well, it’s back to reality for me now! I’ve been on vacation for the last 4 days (for those of you who didn’t know) visiting with some of my family down in southwest FL. I spent the last four days enjoying 80 degree sunny days while dreading coming back up north to 30s and snow/sleet/freezing rain/YUCK. Every time I go home and visit I swear I’m not coming back! One of these days I’ll act on those words. Anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed myself down there. My aunt was celebrating her 50th birthday and a bunch of aunts and uncles whom I have not seen in years were visiting. Monday we toured the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford homes in Fort Myers. We decided to take Tuesday and go to Everglades City. We took an airboat tour and a swamp buggy ride. This time of year a lot of the Everglades is dry so we didn’t see a whole lot of wildlife, but it was fun nonetheless! We saw some gators, birds, and small critters, and I became a ‘gator handler’ when I got to hold a gator! See the picture – that’s me holding “Fred”, a 4-year old male alligator. The woman working with the gators said once you get bit by one, then you become a gator ‘rastler’. I’ll stick to being a handler for now!! We had a golf scramble on Wednesday which was fun since 4 of the 6 of us could probably count the total number of times we’d been golfing on two hands. Sometimes it’s just therapeutic to whack that little white ball as hard as you can!
Anyhow, I’m back now, slightly tanner and much more rested. I could not have gotten on my computer where I was at as my dad only has dial-up. It’s a miracle in itself that he’s even learned how to use a computer! Missed all of you while I was gone and am feeling more connected now.
